Favorite books:

If you know me at all, you know I love myself a good book. Ask any of my close friends, and they will tell you I have a stash of books to loan out. And if I REALLY love a book, you better believe I will be gifting them to anyone I think will love them just as much as me. Open any of my personal books and you will find highlight words and notes, so many notes, all over the margins. I’ve been asked often what some of my absolute favorites are. So why not have a page dedicated to some of my greatest loves. You will find books about motherhood, as well as books about friendship and so much more here. I pray you pick up and enjoy some of these favorites of mine. After reading them, these authors feel more like friends than anything.

  • Never Unfriended - Lisa-Jo Baker

I can not say enough about this book. Friendships are hard guys. In the very first pages of this book, I literally cried my way through them. I felt seen. I felt known. I felt like I wasn’t alone in my struggles. If friendships seem hard, whether that means they are hard to maintain or hard to make, this book is for you. My favorite line by far is, “Be the kind of friend you wish you had.”

  • Grumpy Mom Takes a Holiday-Valerie Woerner

Oh my goodness guys. If there was one book I would give to new mamas all the time, it would be this one. Valerie shares practical and logical ways to kick that grumpy mom to the curb. Today’s culture puts a lot of stereotypes on us as moms, and they can so easily affect how we parent day in and day out. Kick that grumpy mom to the curb and start living out motherhood as God intended.

  • It’s Not Supposed to Be this Way-Lysa Terkeurst

Is there ever enough Lysa books in the world? I really don’t think so. This one takes the cake for me though. There are so many moments in life when we say “it’s not supposed to be this way” and friends it’s not. But because sin entered the world, it is. In this book, Lysa gives her own personal stories about dealing with her own heartaches. She will tell you that we need to feel the pain in order to heal, but that we can’t stay there. I promise you will laugh and cry along with her.

  • Listen Love Repeat-Karen Ehman

I was on the launch team for this baby and it still truly has the biggest spot in my heart. Not only because the launch team was ridiculously fun, but the message in this book…WOW. We truly live in an self-centered world and we to be spreading more KINDNESS and LOVE. Karen gives practical ways to get out there and make that change to become others-focused. Make it a family affair in doing the activities. It truly has been a heart changer for me.

  • Are My Kids On Track?-Sissy Goff, David Thomas, & Melissa Trevathan

I have so many words to say about this book. But I'll refrain. If you have 1 kid or 10 kids, you need this book. There are so many things my girls do that frustrate me and I don’t get why they do it. This little tool lets you peak into their brains. It’s how girls are wired and helped me see them in a whole new light. They also have a podcast out too that is incredible. Click this link and buy it now folks. I’m that serious. It is life-changing.

Raising World Changers in a Changing World-Kristen Welch

I was grateful to be on this launch team too and you guys, their story is an amazing one. I want my girls to grow up and be world changers instead of just changing along with the world. I want them to see the beauty of sacrifice and the joy of giving. It’s right there on that cover and it inspired my heart so much. When you are on launch teams, you pre-order a copy and you also get a free copy usually. I very quickly gifted my extra copy to a girlfriend because I believed in the message so much. It literally took me 2 car rides to go to MN to read it. I just couldn’t put it down.

  • It’s All Under Control-Jennifer Dukes Lee

If you have received your free 7 day devotional from me, you know I talk about us as mamas craving this C word all the time. It’s built into us. We want to control everything we can when it comes to our kids. But friends, the only person who should ever have all the control is Jesus. Jennifer is so relate-able and funny in this book. I found myself laughing as well as saying amen. I found myself realizing just how much control I was grasping onto, and just how much I needed to release.

  • Audacious-Beth Moore

I mean, it’s Beth Moore guys. You KNOW it’s going to be good! Some of us are still taught that our faith should be kept a secret. That we shouldn’t be sharing it with everyone we encounter. That it’s something too personal to share. But as Beth Moore has proven over and over again, that’s simply not true. She received the call to spread the message far and wide. And in order to do that, she learned we have to be audacious in how we do it. This book will inspire you in so many ways, as only Beth Moore can. A must read for sure!

Good Faith - David Kinnaman & Gabe Lyons

I remember diving into this book outside, while our girls played in the pool. I remember posting so many quotes from it on Facebook. I blasted it so many times, that it got loaned out multiple times. Society does see us as extreme at times right now. We live in a such a crazy good but guess what friends? That doesn’t give us the out to stop sharing God’s truth. That doesn’t give us the out to keep the best secret around to ourselves. Now more than ever we need to find ways to help anyone and everyone hear the message we have to share. David & Gabe give insights into today’s culture, help you to know all the facts behind what we believe, and how to share it without seeming judgemental and instead share the gospel with love despite friends having opposing views. A MUST READ in today’s world.
